Road, Trail Damage Reported on Kootenai National Forest
December 4, 2006 - Due to the heavy rains experienced early last month,
the Kootenai Forest had many roads and other areas damaged around the
forest.
Court Decides in Favor of Kootenai National Forest on Nine Challenged
Projects
November 29, 2006 - Late last week, Donald W. Molloy of the U.S.
District Court in Missoula decided in favor of the Kootenai Forest on nine
timber sale and restoration projects. MORE
Rock Creek Project Final Biological Opinion Now Available
The Fish and Wildlife Service's (Service) final biological opinions
based on the Service's review of the proposed Revett Silver Company's Rock
Creek Copper/Silver Mine Project (Rock Creek Mine) and associated mining
operations is now available. MORE
2005 Forest Plan Monitoring Report Now Available
The 1987 Forest Plan requires that a Monitoring and Evaluation Report
be completed each year. The purpose of this report is to determine how the
Kootenai is doing in meeting the goals outlined in the Forest Plan. The
2005 report is now available. MORE
National Forest Recreation Surveys Coming Your Way
Beginning this month (October 2006), you may see more Forest Service
employees working in developed recreation sites and along Kootenai
National Forest roads. They will be wearing bright orange vests and be
near a sign that says "Recreation Use Survey Ahead". MORE
